Career Readiness Specialist

Location: New York, NY

Classification: Full-time, Exempt

Summary:

The Career Readiness Specialist works with SEO College Scholars to support 800+ graduates of NYC public high schools attending colleges across the country by providing year-round one-on-one career-readiness support.

Responsibilities:

Manage workflow of resumes, cover letters, and mock interviews
Participate in recruiting, hiring and training seasonal part-time staff
Assist Internships and Partnerships Manager in assigning tasks to part-time staff
Create, edit, and update college student resumes as needed for content and general formatting
Review cover letters, personal statements, and other application written material for formatting and content improvement
Conduct in-person and over the phone mock interviews; provide feedback
Assess and provide feedback for practice video interviews
Outreach to students as necessary via email and phone to gather information to enhance application materials
Other duties as assigned

Education and Work Experience:

College degree required, preferably in English, Communications, Journalism, or related field; master’s degree preferred
Minimum 2 years professional writing experience
Prior experience working with high school and college students
Specialized training in resume reviewing/writing/career assistance

Core Competencies and Skills:

Highly detail-oriented in approach to tasks and visually while working with a sense of urgency to meet goals and deadlines
Exceptional communication skills: verbal, written, interpersonal (phone and in-person)
Advanced MS Word and Excel 2016 skills and proficient in Google Drive
Must be data driven, familiarity with Salesforce a plus

Additional Details:

Work will be done in the office during regular business hours
Occasional evening and weekend work is required, dependent on program needs
